Discover Greensboro
Greensboro's town history is closely connected to the Apalachicola Northern Railroad. The town account says J.W. Green acquired land near the Alamo community in 1895, and a railway depot was placed on the property when the line arrived in 1907. The settlement was platted and named for Green, then incorporated in the early twentieth century; the town page records slightly different milestone dates, so the distinction between its founding, incorporation and mayoral administration should be preserved.
More about Greensboro
The depot became a landmark of the line and a reminder of how rail service shaped small-town growth. By the 1920s, the town's recorded institutions included stores, a school, a hotel and churches. Those details come from the town's historical account and describe an earlier period, not present-day business availability.
Today, county heritage materials connect Greensboro with nearby Gadsden County sites. Use local sources to confirm access to historic buildings; many landmarks are not necessarily open for unannounced visits.
